Take me back y’all! I seriously just want to put last weekend on replay indefinitely. Phillip’s family organized a family vacation to Sanibel Island which was not only amazing but it also happened to be baby’s first beach trip!
I was so excited I could hardly stand it!
It was a little crazy packing for the trip since I’m always a bit nervous that we’re going to forget something for baby girl. But once my feet actually hit the sand I was instantly in vacation mode.
Our destination was Sanibel Island which is off the west coast of Florida. Part of its charm is just how “untouched” it is along the shoreline. So imagine a shoreline that is covered in seashells, sand dollars, and evidence of turtle nesting and you have Sanibel Island. In fact, it’s mandatory that all lights have to be off or curtains pulled by 9pm to protect the turtles. So the stars were on full display without any competing light going on. It was pretty incredible.
Our days always started with sipping coffee looking out onto the water, lazily making our way down to the beach that was just right outside our door. Mornings were spent soaking up the Gulf. Then breaking for lunch. Only to spend the afternoons playing by the pool. Get up and repeat. It was perfection.
Not to mention baby girl slept like a champ thanks to being worn out from all the fun she was having! Long naps = happy mama.
Overall, baby girl thought the Gulf was cool and all, but her favorite place was right in the sand or knee deep in her kiddy pool that her really cool aunt provided (I have a seriously brilliant sister-in-law). Then, of course, floating in her floatie poolside.
Between unplugging, relaxing, goofing off with the family and watching baby girl discover so many new things, we really could not have had a better vacation.
Daddy in heaven because he caught a shark and was able to introduce it to his baby girl before throwing it back.
Freckle game was on point!
We made so many great memories that weekend. I’m pretty confident that baby’s first beach trip was a success! My only wish was that it would have been longer because beach trips are never long enough.
What vacations are you going on this summer?
