Grow where you are planted. I know it’s not a new phrase, but it is one that has been on a constant loop in my mind and has essentially become our family motto these last few weeks. And with it being a new month and a fresh start, I figured I’d share a little bit of what we’ve been up to lately.
Adjusting as a new stay at home mom has been an adventure, to say the least. Adjusting as that stay at home mom in a new town is a whole different level. But it’s been amazing to see what can happen when you let go of fear and open yourself up to new opportunities.
For me, it’s been putting myself out there in an effort to make this new town feel like home not only for myself but for my daughter. That may sound silly to some but for me, this was a huge step! I was never one to embrace uncomfortable situations. Any sign of awkwardness and I ran straight for the hills.
But this time I had my daughter to think about, and I didn’t want her to miss out because I was afraid to be the new kid.
And so we grew. Now we’re finding that it’s not so awkward. Connections are being built. New experiences are being made. We’re embracing this fresh soil and flourishing!
And we’re not the only ones. It’s been an interesting experience watching Phillip take on the challenge of growing his work here in our new hometown. Certain business ventures have transitioned flawlessly from Florida, where others have had to change and adapt. And while it’s been challenging, to say the least, he’s embracing it and is finding that he’s better for it.
I’ve come to realize that growing where we are is something we should be excited about. I’m a firm believer that we are placed where we are right now for a reason and that is something to embrace. Right now, wherever you are, you’re there for a reason. And it may be difficult at times, but keep going. Allow yourself to move and change.
Good or bad, grow where you are planted.
If you’re like me and like to be reminded from time to time, feel free to take a copy of this grow where you are planted art. Put it somewhere to remind you to dig in where you are and see what can happen. Embrace this moment and maybe before you know it, you’ll look up and see that you’ve not only grown but you’ve completely bloomed.
Thanks for stopping by friends! See you next time!
