I am so excited to be bringing this post to you guys today! Not only is it because its Friday’s post (HELLO weekend!!), but because its my first post with the new look on the blog! I decided it was time to bite the bullet and do a little investing in myself and give ERR a bit of a makeover. There’s still a lot of work to be done, but I’m really excited with how its coming together!
Today I want to chat with you guys about my favorite at home workouts for busy moms. Each one is designed to be done from your living room, and requires very little equipment! And the best part is, most of them are pretty inexpensive! So if you’re working within a budget or have a little one running around, these would be a great option for you.
You know you’re loving the sweet bunny ear shoe laces I have going on…
When Phillip and I decided I was going to stop working out of the house full time (I say out of the house, because let’s be real, blogging is a full time job!), one of the first things to go was the gym membership. So I had to get creative about how I was going to stay active and healthy without all of the fancy gym equipment I was used to.
As much as I’d love to tell you that all of these programs are completely free and all you’ll need is some water and a good pair of shoes, I’m afraid that even with the cheapest of programs you’ll probably have to make at least a small investment. But its an investment in your health, and that’s a pretty great place to put your money if you ask me!
Common equipment I found needed:
See that’s not so bad?!
Alright, now for the good stuff…
My favorite at home fitness programs:
- Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred: even if you’re not familiar with the Biggest Loser, chances are you’ve still heard of Jillian Michaels, who is a no nonsense, tough as nails fitness trainer. And she delivers that same tough love attitude in her 30 Day Shred challenge. The program is broken up into 25-30min workouts varying in 3 different levels of intensity. Even though the workouts are short they are intense! And a perfect choice for super busy lifestyle. What I really love is that you can view the entire first level workout for FREE here on Youtube!!
- Winsor Pilates: Mari Winsor is a leader in the pilates areana and has put out some fantastic pilates workouts fitting for both anyone who’s never even seen a yoga mat to a pilates expert! She has a variety of workouts out there, but my personal favorites are the 20 Minute Workout and the Accelerated Body Sculpting. Bonus: these pilates workouts are also available on Youtube (woohoo).
- 21 Day Fix by Beachbody: anything by Beachbody I have found tends to come with a pretty steep price tag if you’re working within a tight budget, but I was able to try the 21 Day Fix (without the Shakeology) and I have to say it’s a pretty amazing program. The workouts are around 30 minutes long but pack a serious intensity punch! And 21 days for a workout program is one of the shortest durations I’ve ever found! Follow the meal plan and you are certainly going to see results with this program. So if you have the funds to make the investment, find a Beachbody coach and see what kind of deals you can get.
- Yoga with Adriene: after I had my LO, but I wasn’t quite ready to lace my sneakers back up, I came across Adriene, who is an insanely personable and awesome yoga instructor on Youtube. Her challenge is full of awesome yoga videos including a 30 Day Yoga Challenge and a Yoga Camp! Her approach is light hearted and relaxed. Definitely a great place for people who are new to the practice.
Honestly, there are so many resources out there if your trying to get into a healthy fitness routine but are working within a budget, or only have nap time to even think about squeezing in a workout! The key to all of these programs is consistency and healthy eating. You can workout all you want, but if you slack off in the kitchen there’s no way you’ll ever reach your fitness goals. And I’m so preaching to the choir here!! 😉
What my workouts usually end up looking like…and we love it…
So have you tried any of these workouts? Have a favorite that I haven’t tried? Let me know in the comments! I’d love to hear from you!
