Happy New Year everybody! I hope everyone had a safe holiday, full of family and yummy food! I know I’ve been MIA these last few weeks, but between the holidays, traveling, and the hubby landing himself in the ER (ugh for the never ending kidney stone!!), I knew I needed to take a step back from the blog for a hot minute and focus on my family. But I’m back now, and boy did I miss it!
One of the perks about the down time was that it gave me a chance to really think about how I was going about my blog. Like in many aspects of my life, I am a work in progress, and as a blogger, there is no exception. I was feeling very overwhelmed. All the networking, and social media platforms, researching, photo editing, etc, etc…it was seriously stressing me out; which was really discouraging to me, because I am still very eager to build Eat.Raise.Run. I just didn’t have a firm handle on what I was doing, not that I do now, but I knew I needed to figure out a better game plan.
I have never been one to shy away from a challenge, but with every challenge I have taken on (excluding parenting) there has been a concise course of action. College there were curriculum tracks. Nursing there were care plans. Running there were training schedules. But with blogging there is just a mountain of people and posts out there giving tips and tricks, and what worked for them, and its almost a case of information overload.
Even though I didn’t feel like I had a clear plan of attack with my blog, I figured the best thing for me to do was to go after it the way I go about most problems: by breaking it down into pieces, prioritizing those pieces, and handling each task one at a time. The key being that if I can break it down, then I can put some blinders on, ignore all the other stuff demanding my attention, and focus on just one thing at a time.
I also took some time to plan a head a little more, and bust out some of my organizational talents. Ultimately, so that I can be a better writer, and you can enjoy a richer experience as a reader. Everybody wins!
So as far as blogging goes, my goal for this new year is to continue to grow my blog, but not let it overwhelm me. Over the next few weeks I am going to try and share with you my experiences with organizing and getting my act together. I will be nothing if not transparent.
Hopefully you’ll stick around with me as I navigate through this crazy digital world, and who knows, maybe we’ll learn something together!
I know I am definitely looking forward to it!!
